Joan Kirkham’s Induction into the KWFF Hall of Fame

Joan was a founding member of the KWFF and served as its second ever President in 1978 after Jack Imhof.  She was also a life member of the club and over the years held other positions within the club, often co-ordinating the fly tying meetings for instance.  Joan was also well known in the fly fishing community as an excellent fly tyer She passed away on June 11, 2023 in her 95th year.  Joan’s son Steven and his wife and two children will be attending May’s meeting to accept the Hall of Fame Award on Joan’s behalf.

Guest Speaker: Paul Noble, Rod Repair and Field Repair

Paul has been a member of the Thames River Anglers Association for almost 40 years where he has served in every Executive position.  He is also a member of the Forest City Fly Fishing Club, the Western Ontario Fish and Game Protective Association, the OFAH, the Middle Grand Chapter of Trout Unlimited and, of course, the KW Fly Fishers.

Paul began seriously experimenting with fly fishing in the 70’s.  His interest and refinement in fly fishing, as well as fly tying took off when he became close friends with Ian Colin James in the mid 80’s.  Paul started building rods in the late 80’s and, as an extension of the craft, also has been repairing and modifying fishing rods for decades.  Mostly though, Paul enjoys hunting, and traveling with way too much fly gear, chasing anything that swims.

The subject of tonight‘s presentation was compiled from the years of being handed the results of mishaps suffered by his rod repair customers (including his own mishaps).
