About KW Fly Fishers

The KW Fly fishers are a group of men and women from all walks of life who share a common interest – We Really Love Fly Fishing!

The KW Flyfishers has been an active organization for over 30 years in Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas. The membership has close to 50 members, and is an active participant in concerns regarding the conservation of fisheries wildlife. We’re a non-profit fly fishing club dedicated to help promote and educate the sport of flyfishing through the fellowship of our membership.

Benefits of the KW Flyfishers

Our largest asset of the KW Flyfishers is the wealth of knowledge from the years of accumulated experience of the members. There is no easier way to learn the sport of fishing by sharing in on the general discussions and outings scheduled by the membership. Many of the outings and fly tying sessions provide a great deal of education and tutoring from many of the co-members eager to help out.

Come out to one of our General Meetings

General meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month (excluding July and August). We encourage all members to join in on the monthly meetings as well as invited any potential new members that would like to visit one of our general meetings to see if they would be interested in joining. The general meetings are usually hosted by an imformative guest speaker with a topic related to flyfishing trips, education of the sport of flyfishing or some other related topics.

Fly Tying Sessions

Much like the general meetings, we have a guest host for our fly tying sessions. These sessions provide the training required to tie commonly used fly patterns, and are typically taylored to what is in season. Our sessions are geared for all levels of experience, so we hope to see you at the next one.

Fly Fishing Outings

The fly fishing outings are scheduled throughout the year and provide a great hands on experience for all levels of fly fisher. Outings are typically held on rivers within a 1 to 2 hour drive of the KW area, some are also held at local trout ponds which provide a great starting point for the new fly fisher.
